Cardiff turn down bid for Ledley

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has revealed the club has received an undisclosed offer for Joe Ledley.

Ridsdale told BBC Sport Wales the offer for the Bluebirds captain came in the last 48 hours, but was turned down.

"I've had an enquiry over the last 48 hours and I've told the club concerned he's not for sale," said Ridsdale.

"I've told Joe Ledley... and... anybody that wants to listen that Joe Ledley is a Cardiff City player and I expect him to be... until at least the summer."

Ridsdale did not reveal from which club or the money on offer for the midfielder.

Ledley's response echoed his earlier thoughts on the subject.

He said: "It's good for the club to reject bids for me. It proves we're in a good state financially.

"But I've just got to keep playing my football and if anything happens, it happens.

"It's down to the club and it's not down to me.

"There have been rumours all season… and it's not putting me off my game and as I've said I've just got to keep my head down and one day I'll probably be there."

Ledley previously admitted to having been "flattered" to be linked with Premier League side West Ham.

Hammers manager Gianfranco Zola is apparently poised to make a £5m bid for the Welsh international midfielder.

But Ledley, who has also been linked to Premier League new boys Stoke City, insisted on Wednesday "nothing is happening."

The 22-year-old told BBC Sport: "It is great to be linked to a Premier League club and if I continue playing well, then who knows what might happen?"

Ledley, who has 18 months remaining on his Cardiff contract, is one of the hottest properties outside the top-flight and has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs.

FA Cup finalists Cardiff refused a £6m bid for Ledley from Stoke in the summer while Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also had offers turned down.

Ledley has already made more than 200 appearances for the Bluebirds and is a Wales regular with 24 caps and Upton Park boss Zola is said to be the latest admirer.
