Cardiff have seven points from their opening five games

Cardiff boss Dave Jones wants his side to show the missing killer instinct that has seen them draw their last four league games.

Barnsley host Cardiff on Tuesday having lost to the Bluebirds in last season's FA Cup semi-final and on the final day of the Championship season.

"We just need to put the ball into the net," said Jones.

"It's not that we are not creating chances, in the last two games we haven't put them away."

Cardiff were held to goalless draws by Bristol City and Sheffield United after drawing 2-2 with Norwich and 1-1 at Doncaster.

They won their other league game on the opening day of the season, beating Southampton 2-1.

"The game against Norwich we worked so hard to get 2-0 up against a very good side and should have seen out the game, but we didn't," said Jones.

"The last two games we've played have been tough games."

But goalkeeper Tom Heaton is confident the Bluebirds will start to pick up wins.

"There's goals in everyone," he said.

"If we can be a little bit more clinical in front of goal, which we see day in day out in training, they will definitely come.

"We are happy with two clean sheets and hopefully we can get some more."

Barnsley have lost four out of their opening five league games, picking up three points against Derby.
