Jay Bothroyd says the best is still to come from him ahead of Saturday's Severnside derby with Bristol City.

The ex-Wolves striker, 26, has yet to score for Cardiff City since his summer switch, but he is confident that will change now that he is fully fit.

"I've been happy with my performances but there's definitely more to come," said the £300,000 recruit from Wolves.

"The atmosphere is always great at Cardiff but with a derby I expect a lot more."

Both sides are unbeaten after four Championship games, but last season's play-off finalists Bristol City have had a slightly better start.

"It's a really big game, it's going to be tasty action," said Bothroyd.

"They did well last season and they've got a few good players especially in midfield.

"They are pretty direct, but we need to win our home games."

And boss Dave Jones is keen to keep up the Bluebirds' unbeaten start.

"We want to keep our run going, we want to stay strong and try and get maximum points," he said.

"We are at home and will be going all out to win as we always do."

Cardiff won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season which saw tempers boil over in the dug-out.

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson was sent to the stands for grabbing the ball off the fourth official.

"It's hard being in an away dug-out these days," said Johnson.

"If you've got the wrong shoes on, or you're bald, or short, then you've got thousands of people quick to tell you so.

"You very quickly get a complex. I didn't know I was short and bald before I took up management."
