Cardiff City defender Roger Johnson insists Portsmouth are 'there for the taking' in Saturday's FA Cup final.

The Championship side believe Premier League Pompey can be beaten at Wembley.

Johnson said: "Portsmouth are one of the Premier League sides you can beat, they are not one of the top four and are there for the taking.

"We're in the final on merit and if Pompey think they are going to walk all over us then they'll lose - I hope they know they'll be in for a tough game."

Centre-back Johnson's performances have been the foundation for Cardiff FA Cup heroics this season and his impressive displays have alerted Premier League clubs.

The 25-year-old's central defensive partnership with Glenn Loovens has ensured the Bluebirds have conceded just two goals en route to the final.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is considering a 1.5m move for Johnson, who dislodged club captain Darren Purse from Dave Jones' team this season.

And the former Wycombe Wanderers man admits he'd listen to an offer from a top-flight club

"I'm flattered to be linked to the Premier League," said Johnson.

"It would be difficult to resist an offer because every player wants to play at highest level possible and sometimes you've got to take your chances.

"But any move has got to be right for me and Cardiff, I don't want to go somewhere and not play.

"I've heard the Middlesbrough rumours and it wouldn't be overly appealing, it's quite out of the way. But they're obviously in the Premier League and have to be considered.

"However, I'm really happy at Cardiff and would love to stay."

606: DEBATE

The FA Cup final against Portsmouth could be the last Cardiff game for Johnson and his team-mates Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ledley before big-money summer moves to the Premier League.

And Wembley is the perfect stage for them to perform as the Bluebirds try to emulate City's 1927 FA Cup winners.

"We know we've got a tough game on our hands," said Johnson.

"But likewise they'll be silly to under-estimate us as they almost went out to Preston in an earlier round.

"If we were playing Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea we'd have a little less confidence but we're up for this and believe we can win."
