Cardiff City will not be punished over the crowd trouble during last season's Championship match at Wolves.
Two police officers were taken to hospital and 17 people arrested by West Midlands Police for disturbances inside and outside Molineux on 11 March.
The FA of Wales charged Cardiff with failing to control its fans, but the charge has now been dropped.
Cardiff travel to Wolves on 20 January, but their fans have been banned from attending because of the past violence.
The decision was taken by the Football League Board in November, but Cardiff have been trying to overturn the ban.
And the club believes the FAW's decision to drop the disciplinary charges against them strengthens their argument.
"In light of [the FAW] decision, to ban our supporters in our forthcoming trip to Molineux on January 20th 2007 is now even more disappointing," said a statement on Cardiff City's official website.
