West Brom's Junichi Inamoto has joined Cardiff on a month's loan to improve his match fitness.
The Japan international, who joined the Baggies in August, is in the squad for the Boxing Day clash at home to Wolves.
The midfielder's loan will also cover the games against Watford, Derby, Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Burnley.
"Ina's short of match fitness and the Cardiff manager, Lennie Lawrence, has been in touch to say he'd like to use Ina," said Albion boss Bryan Robson.
"With all the Christmas games coming up, that will be a better way for me to have a look at him rather than him being a training-ground player.
"He needs to play football to get match fit.
"If he can impress me by playing well for Cardiff, we'll be looking to bring Ina back," added Robson.
The 25-year-old midfielder will miss Cardiff's third-round FA Cup clash against Blackburn to avoid him becoming cup-tied should Albion need his services later in the competition.
The former Gamba Osaka ace has been restricted to eight reserve outings at The Hawthorns.
He has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Baggies on his comeback from the hairline leg fracture he suffered against England in June.
But Inamoto returned to international action for the first time last Thursday, when he captained Japan in a 3-0 friendly defeat to Germany in Yokohama.
