Wales international Danny Gabbidon returned to action for Cardiff City's reserves against Barnet at Ninian Park on Wednesday.
Gabbidon has been missing since November
The centre back suffered no ill-effects to his back injury as he played for an hour in a dull 0-0 draw.
A back injury has kept Gabbidon on the sidelines since early November.
But he looked his usual composed self on his return to competitive action, and even forced a fine save from Barnet's goalkeeper.
"I didn't want to rush anything so I think 60 minutes was perfect for me," Gabbidon told BBC Sport.
"I'll get a few more reserve games under my belt and then hopefully I'll be ready to try to get myself back in the first team."
Fellow Wales international Rhys Weston also came through the match unscathed.
Gareth Whalley and Andy Campbell played a half each as they also hit the comeback trail.
Campbell, ruled out since the 25 January game away at Huddersfield following a hernia operation, looked some way short of match fitness.
Gabbison added: "It's great for the team to have so many good players coming back at such a vital time in the season."
Cardiff: Walton, Weston, Gabbidon, Collins, Huggins, Bowen, Hamilton, Bonner, Legg, Gordon, Campbell.
Subs: Whalley, Anthony, Lee-Barrett, Williams, Wallis.
