Hop-along Gabbidon
Cardiff defender Danny Gabbidon
Danny Gabbidon will need inserts in his boots
Cardiff believe they have found the cause of the back problems suffered by Danny Gabbidon - he has one leg shorter than the other.

Although this is not an uncommon affliction, the Wales defender's problem is more accute and exacerbated by his lifestyle as a professional sportsman.

"We've analysed his running action on video and that appears to be the case," Cardiff manager Lennie Lawrence said.

"We're still doing some other scans but we think we've got to the bottom of it.

"We'll take the necessary remedial action and he should be back in training by the middle of next week."

Gabbidon will see a footware specialist to have an orthotic insole inserted into his boots and Cardiff hope that will correct the problem.

Lawrence doesn't think Gabbidon will be back in action before the home league match against Bristol City on Saturday 14 December.

That means Gabbidon will almost certainly miss the FA Cup second-round match at Margate on 7 December, plus the LDV Vans Southern Section quarter-final at Bournemouth three days after that.

However, apart from Gabbidon, Lawrence has few injury concerns ahead of Friday night's league clash at Queen's Park Rangers.

Peter Thorne and Spencer Prior have shrugged off their knocks and Willie Boland trained on Thursday, but new signing Fan Zhiyi is not yet match fit.
