Striker fails drugs test
Cardiff striker Leon Jeanne
Cardiff say they will stand by Leon Jeanne
Cardiff's young striker Leon Jeanne has failed a random drug test, the club confirmed on Saturday.

The Wales under-21 player has tested positive for a recreational drug eight weeks ago.

The random test was carried out by the Sports Council for Wales at Cardiff's training ground.

The Football Association of Wales is aware of the situation and will meet with the club and Jeanne at a disciplinary hearing in the coming weeks.

Cardiff have said they will stand by their man.

"Leon tested positive for a Class A drug some eight weeks ago," said Bleubirds boss Alan Cork.

"For legal reasons we weren't allowed to say anything to anyone and nor was he.

"He has to go to counselling twice a week. It's disappointing to because we've tried to get the boy straight.

"We'll still persevere with him and help him the best we can.

"But Leon is not a drug addict, if anything he's got more of a drink problem."

Jeanne signed a year-year deal with Cardiff at the beginning of the season after being released by Queens Park Rangers.

The London-based club decided they had had enough of his off-field antics.

The last straw came last September when he went missing after failing to turn up for a Wales under-21 training session.
