Paul Carden and Dan Walker switch between Luton and U's

Cambridge United midfielder Paul Carden has joined Luton on loan until the end of the season, while striker Dan Walker has gone the other way for 28 days.

Carden, 33, has been ever-present in the U's line-up this season with 27 appearances, but missed Saturday's draw at Grimsby with a foot problem.

Walker, 20, has spent the last two months on loan at Eastbourne.

He has played 10 times for the Hatters since joining from Bedford Town in July, scoring one goal.

Carden, who is also assistant manager at the U's, will link up with friend and former Cambridge boss Gary Brabin at Kenilworth Road.

Brabin is Luton boss Richard Money's number two, a role Carden held when Brabin was manager at the Abbey Stadium.

Former Rochdale, Chester, Peterborough and Accrington man Carden is available for the Hatters' trip to Newport on Friday.

"Paul's a voice, we're very quiet on the pitch sometimes and he'll be a knowledgeable voice on the pitch and dressing room," Money told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"We've brought him in because he's a good player who we think, and he thinks, coming here will give him a new lease of life."

Walker scored twice during his seven-game loan spell at Eastbourne this season.

"Dan is a quick, strong and powerful forward, who can play wide or through the middle," said caretaker boss Jez George.

"He will add to our attacking options and gives us another player in the squad with a good physical presence on the pitch."
