Danny Naisbitt eyeing run in Cambridge United side

Cambridge goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt is aware that he will have to perform well to keep his place in the United team.

Naisbitt joined the U's from Histon in May but had to wait until Saturday's 3-1 win over Barrow to make his first appearance for Martin Ling's side.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Martin has been very fair so far and I can't see that changing.

"If I'm doing the job on the pitch then I'll stay in the team and if I'm not doing the job I'll be back out."

Simon Brown began the season as Ling's first-choice keeper but has struggled to hit his best form.

And, after waiting patiently on the bench, Naisbitt admitted that he is relieved to have finally been handed a start.

"It was nice to make my debut, the fans were fantastic and it was great to get the win," said the 31-year-old.

"It's a bit different being a goalkeeper as you're either in the side or you're not, so it was just a case of waiting for my chance.

"Simon will be biting at my heels to get back in the team and I've just got to go out there each and every game and try and give 100%.

"He's a professional so he will do what I did and just get on with it, but there are certainly no issues between us."
