Cambridge United swoop for four new players

Cambridge United

Cambridge United have moved to bolster their squad with four new signings.

Danny Wright, 25, who plays as a striker and goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt, 31, join after failing to agree new terms at Histon.

Left-back James Jennings, 22, makes the move from Kettering after being a virtual ever-present at the Poppies in recent weeks.

Simon Russell, a 25-year-old winger, joins after a successful loan spell at the Abbey from York City last season.

All four players have signed two-year deals, with the U's set to pay a small fee for Jennings given he is under the age of 24.

Meanwhile, three of the six players who were offered new deals at the Abbey have agreed terms.

Defender Josh Coulson and goalkeeper Simon Brown have signed two-year contracts while defender Kevin Roberts has received a one-year extension.

Striker Danny Crow, right-back Dan Gleeson and defender Brian Saah have all yet to commit their futures to the club.
