Ex Histon chairman Gareth Baldwin eyes Cambridge role

Gareth Baldwin
Histon achieved multiple promotions under Baldwin's leadership

Former Histon chairman Gareth Baldwin has said he would consider taking a role at Cambridge United but not until at least the start of next season.

Baldwin quit as Stutes chairman in October after 17 years at the helm and has been closely linked with the U's.

The 41-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I wouldn't rule out coming to the Abbey, but not in the near future.

"I don't think we're all done and dusted at Histon as yet."

The U's have been searching for additions to their board following the departure of George Rolls and Terry Baker in August.

Baldwin cut all ties with Histon following his resignation as chairman, but says he could still have a part to play at the Glass World in the future.

"I've had approaches from two or three clubs and Cambridge are close to my heart," he said.

"But we're having a break and reviewing the options, but we haven't got Histon out of the system as yet."
