Reason relaxed over fan criticism

Jai Reason
Reason has scored twice for Cambridge this season

Cambridge United midfielder Jai Reason says he needs to ignore criticism from fans about his recent performances.

Reason, 19, became a key part of the U's squad which got to the Blue Square Premier play-off final last season but has struggled to recapture his form.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm not worried about what anyone's saying about me as long as the gaffer's happy.

"It's not that I don't respect the fans' point of view but they have their own opinions."

The former Ipswich youngster, who has been an ever-present in Martin Ling's side this season, admits that criticism is part and parcel of the game.

"You take it on the chin. You keep going into work every day with a smile on your face," he said.

"The fans have their opinions and without the fans you don't have football, so I just get on with it and try and block it out."

Reason was signed by the U's in the summer after a successful loan spell from Ipswich.
