Convery keen to hold onto place

Cambridge United midfielder Mark Convery is hopeful of keeping his place in the side for Tuesday's clash with his former side York.

The 27-year-old midfielder has made just five starts this season, but saved the U's a point with a late equaliser against Crawley on Saturday.

But Convery told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I know to be in the [team] you have to do the other side.

"The boss is always saying how it's not all about when you've got the ball."

With Jon Challinor out injured and Ben Farrell suspended for two matches following his sending-off at Crawley, Convery should remain in the U's starting 11.

However, the former Dagenham man says he has learnt to deal with the disappointment of missing out.

"I think the gaffer's got his reasons for the team he picks, but it's not personal and we all get on," he said.

The U's have only won four of their last 14 matches in the league, but are unbeaten in seven following Saturday's draw.
