League Two side Bury have terminated striker Danny Carlton's contract with immediate effect.

The 27-year-old joined the club in July 2009 but suffered an Achilles injury which kept him out for nine months.

He had a three month loan spell at Grimsby earlier this season, making six starts in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

During his 18 months at Gigg Lane Carlton started just two games and came off the bench 12 times but failed to score in any of his appearances.

Alan Knill has also confirmed talks have opened with goalkeeper Cameron Belford with regards to a contract extension
