Burton chase Crewe striker Elding

Elding joined Crewe from Leeds in July 2008

Burton Albion have made an enquiry about the availability of Crewe Alexandra striker Anthony Elding.

The former Leeds and Stockport player has been placed on the transfer list by Crewe caretaker manager Dario Gradi.

"I have had to make a decision over Anthony because I have six strikers here and we cannot carry them all," Gradi told Crewe's official website.

"I have had a message from Burton asking about the situation so that is something we will follow up."

Gradi added: "Anthony has fallen down the pecking order because Calvin [Zola] has scored 10 goals so far this season, so he is the first one on the team-sheet."
