Burton boss takes blame for loss

Burton Albion

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido says he still has work to do to get his side ready for the new season after their 4-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest.

The Brewers only goal in Saturday's friendly came from Robin Shroot.

Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "We kept getting caught out by one long ball over the top.

"I can take the blame as we haven't worked on shape or defensive stability. All we've done is work on our fitness as that is what pre-season is about."

Burton were blitzed by a 10-minute second-half hat-trick from Forest's Nathan Tyson, with Reds' recent signing David McGoldrick scoring their other goal in the first half.

Peschisolido added: "Over the next couple of weeks we've got a lot of work to do on the pitch to make sure we're not breaking down by one simple ball over the top.

"There were a lot of good things about it, mainly in the first-half, but I am not going to worry too much as it's only a pre-season friendly.

"We held our own for the majority of the game with regards to possession, but you see the gulf between the two divisions with one or two players.

"The pace and the power they had up front - when they get in those areas they're ruthless. We probably won't come up against many better strikers than we have today in our league.

"At the same time we have to be prepared for it and work on cutting out silly errors and simple goals that need to be stopped."
