Brewers increase stadium capacity

Burton Albion

Burton Albion have been given the go-ahead to increase the crowd capacity at the Pirelli Stadium by more than 10%.

Capacity at the Pirelli was limited to 6,200, but under the new agreement that figure has risen to 6,912.

The increase, which will be in place at the start of the club's first season in the Football League, was approved by Staffordshire County Council.

"We are delighted... and would like to thank the council's Safety Advisory Committee," said chairman Ben Robinson.

Meanwhile Burton 's next signings may not come as soon as supporters would like according to manager Paul Peschisolido.

Peschisolido admitted trialists Jimmy Phillips and Jacques Maghoma both played well on Saturday against Derby but is not sure about deals for either.

The Brewers boss was pleased with all his players but took the time to praise on-loan goalkeeper Shane Redmond.

"Under Kevin Poole's coaching Shane is going to get better and better," Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby.

The Canadian is still keen to bring in another central defender but said Darren Stride was out to make a point against Derby County.

"You know what you're going to get with Stridey, he's a tough nut to crack," he said.
