Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough is checking out former Port Vale and Wigan defender Matt Carragher.
Clough's side are in mid-table in the Conference at present
Carragher has been without a professional club since his release by Vale at the end of last season.
And Clough was set to run the rule over the 27-year-old in a friendly against Gresley Rovers.
Carragher, who has been playing on a non-contract basis for Stafford Rangers, started 34 league games in Division Two last season and started almost 350 games in all for Vale and Wigan.
