Burnley have signed Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old Scotland international, who has been promoted four times in his career, has agreed a two-year contract at Turf Moor.

Clarets boss Brian Laws told the club website: "I am delighted to bring Chris to Burnley and I think he is going to be a fantastic addition.

"Chris is not a gamble. He is proven in the Championship. He is a winner and we want winners at this club."

He added: "He has averaged about 15 goals a season, which tells you he can play.

"His link-up play and knowledge of the game are great and he will be fantastic for the dressing room."

Iwelumo joined Wolves from Charlton in July 2008, scoring 14 times as Mick McCarthy's side won the Championship in his first season at Molineux.

But, after seeing his preparation for the Premier League hampered by a broken foot, he was restricted to just 15 top-flight appearances, including only two starts.

"I've always described Lumes as a 'proper bloke'," said McCarthy, "someone who puts himself about and gives everything for the cause with no fuss or complaint and is also an excellent influence in the dressing room.

"He's also proved himself to be a very good player with us and his goals played a major part in helping the team win the Championship title.

"He suffered from injury problems last season but whenever he featured never gave less than 100% and again played his part in the club securing Premier League status.

"At this age he wants to be playing regular football which is something that might have been difficult with us next season."
