O'Connor joined Burnley in 2005 after five years at Bournemouth
Burnley midfielder Garreth O'Connor has been released by the Clarets after three years at Turf Moor.
The 29-year-old's contract is up in the summer, but Burnley decided to release him early after he made just one brief appearance for the Clarets this season.
Manager Owen Coyle told the club's official website: "It's unfortunate for Garreth that it's never worked out and we wish him well.
"He has worked hard during my time here and just never got a chance."
O'Connor made 38 league appearances in three seasons at Burnley - including just one outing this season as an 89th-minute substitute.
He had a two-month loan spell at his old club Bournemouth at the start of the campaign, but was hampered by injuries.
