Burnley boss Owen Coyle has confirmed he did not make a bid for former Clarets midfielder Richard Chaplow.
Chaplow had a loan spell at Southampton in 2006
The 22-year-old has joined struggling Preston North End from table-toppers West Brom in a deal worth £1.35m.
Chaplow, who left Burnley for West Brom two years ago, had been linked with a move back to Turf Moor, before joining their Lancashire rivals Preston.
And Coyle told BBC Radio Lancashire that he was interested in the player but no offer was made.
