McGregor blow for Clarets
Clarets defender Mark McGregor
McGregor is out for a month
Burnley have been dealt a blow with the news that versatile defender Mark McGregor has had to undergo surgery on a knee injury.

McGregor was injured in pre-season and is now expected to be out of action until the middle of September.

"Mark had an operation on Tuesday to have his knee cleared out, and I hope he will be back in a month or so," Burnley boss Stan Ternent told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

Burnley had the worst defensive record in Division One last season and are now propping up the table on goal difference after conceding seven goals in their first two league games.

Former Wrexham man McGregor, 26, has played at centre-half and full-back for the Clarets.

He was expected to provide Ternent with a welcome extra option at the back following the signing of ex-Manchester United defender David May.
