Bristol Rovers sign Leicester defender Bolger on loan
Bristol Rovers have signed Leicester City defender Cian Bolger on a one-month loan deal.
The 18-year-old centre-back is a product of the Foxes' academy programme but has not made a senior appearance for the club.
He told the Bristol Rovers club website: "I am a tough tackler and good at passing the ball, and have scored a few for the youth team at Leicester."
Irish-born Bolger could start against Hartlepool in League One on Tuesday.
"I had my first training session today and the lads were very welcoming. I cannot wait to be involved tomorrow night," the 6ft 4in defender added.
"I'm looking forward to making my league debut and getting as many senior games under my belt as possible."
Bolger was named Leicester's academy player of the year in 2009.
Leicester City academy manager Jon Rudkin told BBC Radio Bristol: "He's certainly a confident individual, and I'm sure he wouldn't be too fazed.
"He loves defending, he's as brave as anything that you have seen. I'm sure he'll understand the importance of avoiding relegation and getting Bristol Rovers up the league."
