Dickson desperate to make amends

Bristol Rovers striker Chris Dickson says he is desperate to rediscover his scoring touch after missing a hatful of chances in the 2-1 defeat by Southend.

Dickson, who is on a three-month loan deal from Charlton, scored three goals in his first three games for Rovers.

"It's two games in a row that I haven't scored and for me that's unreal," the 24-year-old told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I apologised to the manager [Paul Trollope] after the game as the one thing I know how to do is score goals."

Dickson added: "After the game a lot of the players texted me saying it was just one of those games. On Saturday it just didn't want to fall for me.

Rovers currently lie fifth in League One, but have suffered two consecutive away defeats, including a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Norwich City.

"I've got to get back to goal-scoring form and hopefully if I start scoring then the team starts winning again," said Dickson.

Rovers' next fixture is a local derby at home to Yeovil Town and the Plumstead-born striker is keen to break his duck at the Memorial Stadium.

"I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and I know the fans will be behind us again, as they always are," said Dickson.

"I need to get a few goals for the home fans as they've been really really good to us when we've been away."
