Lennie Lawrence was appointed Rovers director of football in 2006
Bristol Rovers believe they are one of the big favourites to land one of their key transfer targets this summer.
Rovers hope to have two more players on board by the time the squad report back for pre-season training on 2 July.
Director of football Lennie Lawrence refused to reveal the identity of the players but told BBC Radio Bristol one is highly sought after.
"One in particular is a Bosman who is probably worth money in contract, he would cost a transfer fee," he said.
"There is going to be a lot of interest in him, he will probably speak to half a dozen clubs I would think, but we have targeted him for a long time.
"I think we are just about favourites to land him now."
Meanwhile Lawrence said he was pleased to learn that Rovers will begin the League One season with a home game against Leyton Orient.
"You're hoping your first three league games you're going to maybe get two at home and one away," he said. "That hasn't happened to us, we've got two away and one at home.
"But at least the very first game is at home and we're also at home in the first round of the League Cup."
