Bristol Rovers will start their League One campaign without Danny Coles, after he lasted just eight minutes of their Saturday friendly with Den Haag.

Manager Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol that centre-half Coles will be out for a couple of weeks with a medial ligament injury.

"We've had a few bits of misfortune - a few impact injuries, and tightness from competitive action," he said.

Fellow defender Ryan Green was also substituted with a hamstring problem.

Coles and Green join Joe Jacobson on the sidelines, with the left-back likely to miss the first two months of the season.

Coles' injury was compounded by a 3-2 defeat to Den Haag at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Rickie Lambert and Ben Hunt netting second-half goals for Rovers.

But Trollope hopes most of his squad will be ready for their first League One fixture of the season, at home to Carlisle on Saturday.

"Obviously we're going to be missing one or two but most of the others we're going to get fit and firing," he said.
