Routine will be vital - Trollope

Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road ground
Whaddon Road will be Rovers temporary home for two seasons

Bristol Rovers head coach Paul Trollope says establishing the right routine on matchdays will be crucial to succeeding when they groundshare with Cheltenham.

Rovers will be tenants at Whaddon Road for two years, starting next season.

"There's a lot of possibilities and we're going to have a dummy run in pre-season," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"The players physical and mental state is crucial to it, and we need to find out their preferences and look at the all the possibilities."

"We need to decide whether we let the players drive up themselves or get a bus up, and whether we eat in Bristol and then travel or eat in Cheltenham."

Trollope knows that that spending two years in exile while the club's Memorial Stadium is rebuilt will not be easy for everyone involved, but feels it is a necessary evil if Rovers are to make progress from their current position.

"It's a difficult period for the fans of the football club, it's not ideal and we would really call for their support," he said.

"It's a hardship travelling up there, but it's crucial to the future of Bristol Rovers - the new stadium will be a great venue for Championship football, but to get there we need to progress and not fall away at Cheltenham.

"On and off the pitch, we need the club to continue to grow to get where we want to go so even at this early stage we really call for the supporters to buy their season tickets, support the team and we want to reassure everyone that we will be adding quality to the squad in the positions everyone knows we need."
