Butler seeks to stay
Centre-back Tony Butler, currently on loan from West Bromwich Albion, says he wants to extend his time at Ashton Gate.

Butler's period with the club is set to end after City play Port Vale on 28 September, but the 29-year-old is hopeful a deal can be worked out to allow him to stay longer.

The defender, who has played in five matches since the loan spell began, told the club's website www.bcfc.co.uk that any extension depended on the two clubs' respective managers.

"It's completely out of my hands as far as extending the loan is concerned," Butler said.

"It is up to Danny (Wilson) and Gary (Megson) at West Brom.

"Whether both managers want the loan extended is up to them and I just have to wait and see."

But he added he was intensely keen to stay on at Ashton Gate.

"I would be glad to stay if the manager wants me," he said.

"I just want first-team football and to have that chance at a club like Bristol City is brilliant, I'd just love an extension."
