Seagulls take time over new boss

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom says he will not be rushed into replacing sacked manager Russell Slade.

Several high-profile names including Steve Coppell and Tony Adams have already been linked with the job.

Bloom told the club's official website: "It's so critical to get this decision right it wouldn't be right of me to put a timescale on it.

"Much more important is to make sure we have the right man here to manage the football club."

He added: "I have some candidates in mind and I've been inundated with calls from various people.

"It's now about going through the list, doing our due diligence and and speaking to the potential candidates."

Martin Hinshelwood is in temporary charge of the team and Bloom says that will probably be the case for Saturday's trip to Wycombe in the FA Cup.

"The likelihood is that Martin will be taking the team this Saturday, he's gone out training with the view that he's getting a team together for our FA Cup trip to Wycombe," he said.

Albion have a tough spell in the league coming up, beginning with a trip to Southampton.

"It would be nice to do it by Southampton but as I said the critical thing is to get the right person however long that takes," said Bloom.
