Dickinson cost Derby £750,000 and yet never played for them
Derby County striker Liam Dickinson has joined Brighton for a fee believed to be just over £100,000 after signing a three-year deal with Albion.
The 23-year-old forward had been told he was not part of boss Nigel Clough's plans for the new season after failing to make the grade at Pride Park.
Dickinson did not make a single first-team appearance for the Rams after joining for £750,000 in July 2008.
The ex-Stockport man spent time on loan at Huddersfield, Blackpool and Leeds.
Seagulls boss Russell Slade told the club website: "We're delighted that we've made the signing. I wanted to strengthen the forward line, and he brings something different to the table.
"His goalscoring record is very good and he has a good goals-per-game ratio, and like one or two of the other signings I have made this summer, he is hungry to get his career back on track. I'm sure there is a lot more to come from him.
