Adams quits Brighton
Micky Adams
Adams will join Dave Bassett at Leicester
Micky Adams has quit as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Second Division promotion-chasers have been rocked by the news that their manager is to become Dave Bassett's right-hand man at Leicester City.

Perhaps the only way I can get into a Premiership club is doing it this way
Mickey Adams
Adams broke the news to his players on Tuesday.

The revelation came as a shock, with last year's Third Division champions riding high in the table again.

Brighton are currently fourth in Division 2, level on points with leaders Oldham.

Adams explained: "In a way this is a devastating blow because I'm very happy at Brighton. But I want to work in the Premiership.

"I was disappointed I didn't get interviews for a couple of jobs. Perhaps the only way I can get into a Premiership club is doing it this way.

"I believe, having spoken with Leicester and Dick Knight (Brighton chairman) that a compensation figure has been agreed for my services."

Adams' departure is likely to leave assistant manager Bob Booker in charge of team affairs for Saturday's game at Huddersfield.
