Brentford part company with manager Andy Scott

Brentford have sacked manager Andy Scott and assistant Terry Bullivant.

It is understood that veteran Bees striker Nicky Forster has been put in temporary charge.

Brentford, who have not won a league game since 1 January, currently sit two points off the League One drop zone in 19th place.

Scott took over as boss in December 2007 following Terry Butcher's sacking and led them to the League Two title in his first full season in charge.

They finished ninth in League One the following year but have struggled to find the same form this term, winning only nine of their 27 league games.

Scott's exit comes just four days before the Bees face Exeter in the second leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final, with a place at Wembley at stake.

The 38-year-old former Brentford striker made 143 appearances for the club.

His first off-field role came as coach at Leyton Orient, where he was forced to finish his playing career after being diagnosed with a heart problem

He rejoined the Bees as assistant to Butcher in 2007 and was given the caretaker manager's role when Butcher was sacked, before signing a five-year deal to take over permanently in January 2008.

He steered Brentford away from the League Two relegation zone to set up the following title-winning season.

Despite his early success, Scott has faced recent criticism following a string of poor results.

The Bees' last league win came against Dagenham & Redbridge on New Year's Day but they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat in the reverse fixture on Tuesday night.
