Brentford have bolstered their ranks by signing Arsenal striker Rhys Murphy on a three-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old England under-19 international has a proven scoring record in Arsenal's youth squad.

He hit the winning goals in both the semi-final and final of the FA Premier Academy League Cup last season.

Murphy joins Poland international goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in moving to Griffin Park from the Gunners on loan until next year.

Bees manager Andy Scott told the official Brentford website: "Rhys is another good signing for us. He has a lot of potential, so much so he is seen as a future First Team squad member at Arsenal.

"This opportunity is good for both ourselves and Rhys as it will allow him to blossom under our guidance.

"In that respect it also confirms that Brentford is seen as a club that can help the progress of young up and coming Premiership players."
