Ward agrees to Bradford switch
Ashley Ward
Ward has had a rethink on his move to Bradford
Ashley Ward has become Bradford City's sixth signing of the summer after having a rethink over his 1.5 million move from Blackburn Rovers.

In a similar style to Benito Carbone, Ward had initially rejected the personal terms offered by City following lengthy negotiations with chairman Geoffrey Richmond on Thursday.

Ironically Ward could now partner Carbone at Anfield on Saturday when Bradford kick off their Premiership campaign if his transfer is completed before the noon deadline.

Long term target

The 29-year-old cost Rovers 4.25million when he joined from Barnsley 20 months ago, and had initially taken six days to negotiate a severance package from the Ewood Park club.

Richmond confirmed that Ward had been a long term target for the Bantams.

"I've got to say we did always want Ashley and Ashley wanted to join us, so everybody at the club is now very happy.

"This now concludes the summer signings. We have achieved everything we set out to do at the start of the summer.

"We feel we've a squad of players which is significantly stronger than the one which began our first Premiership campaign 12 months ago."
