Owen Morrison has signed an 18-month contract at Bradford City with an option of extending it.
The striker celebrated his first start for the Bantams by scoring the winner against Huddersfield on Saturday.
And boss Colin Todd told the Telegraph & Argus: "We initially signed him on loan, but felt we'd better sign him up quickly as he is a great talent.
"And if he continues to perform at his highest level there might be one or two clubs who wanted to take him."
Morrison's goal gave the Bantams a sixth away win of the season and lifted them back into the play-off zone
Todd added: "It was a superb goal, but he hasn't played for a while and it showed in the second half.
"However, overall we have a strong side and the back four on Saturday was the same that went five games undefeated in October.
"It was a fantastic result for the players and fans - we're up there and doing fine and I would expect us to keep it going."
Meanwhile, Tom Kearney may return to City's line-up for the visit of Wrexham on Boxing Day.
The midfielder has missed the last five games after picking up a thigh injury in the FA Cup defeat to Rushden & Diamonds.
