Como covet Carbone
Benito Carbone in action for Bradford
Carbone was released by Bradford in May
Benito Carbone has been offered the chance to return to Italy by newly-promoted Serie A side Como.

Carbone was released by Bradford in May and is seeking a new club which can match his wage demands.

The striker is believed to have earned £40,000 per week at Valley Parade and Como are deciding whether they can afford to make him their big summer signing.

"There has been an interest in the player and we contacted the agent, but for the time being there is nothing official about a transfer," said Como spokesman Fabrizio Diana.

Carbone, 30, played for Torino, Napoli and Inter Milan before moving to England.

He then spent five seasons at Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Bradford - with loan spells at Derby and Middlesbrough.

Unlike many of his Bradford colleagues who were also released in a cost-cutting measure, Carbone did not appear for pre-season training on Monday.

The First Division club was left with only five professionals on its books after going into administration.

And the Professional Footballers' Association have provided the Bantams with over £1m - more than they have ever given any other club.
