My heart is at Bournemouth - Howe

Manager Eddie Howe has said he turned down Peterborough's approach because his "heart" is at Bournemouth.

The 31-year-old and his assistant Jason Tindall were approached to replace the departed Darren Ferguson at Posh, but have opted to stay with the Cherries.

"It's nice when people show an interest in you, it shows we are doing the right things," Howe told BBC Radio Solent.

"I'm delighted to still be manager. My heart is here and I think everybody knows how much I love the club."

Howe took charge of the Cherries in January and led them to League Two safety despite the club being deducted 17 points because of financial problems.

Bournemouth now sit top of the table, two points clear Rochdale in second.

Howe, the youngest manager in the Football League, confirmed that he did not hold talks with the Championship club.

"I made my decision early on," he added. "I wanted to show a commitment to Bournemouth and to make a statement to say that I saw my future here.

"I'm desperate to bring success to this team and hopefully we can do that."

Club chairman Eddie Mitchell rejected Peterborough's approach after talks with Howe and Tindall, but admits it may hard to hang on to his managerial team.

"It's common knowledge that they are up and coming prospects for the future," said Mitchell.

"But, I see their future at a lot higher level than the Championship."
