Partington inspired by Anderton

Partington scored on his full debut for the club on Saturday

Bournemouth midfielder Joe Partington says he is flattered to be playing in the role vacated by Darren Anderton following his retirement.

The 18-year-old made his full Cherries debut on Saturday and scored in the 2-0 home victory against Bury.

Partington told BBC Radio Solent: "Darren is the best player I have ever played with, he's a fantastic player.

"For people to say I can come in and maybe play in Darren's position is a great honour and is good for me."

Partington added: "When he was playing at Bournemouth he was the best player in League Two by far.

"I learned from him when he was playing in games and I picked up a lot from him in training."
