Cherries extend BBC Solent deal

Bournemouth

Bournemouth and BBC Radio Solent have agreed a new two-year radio deal for all first-team match commentaries for the next two seasons.

Solent will provide expert commentary and exclusive radio interviews with manager Jimmy Quinn and his squad.

Head of sport for BBC Radio Solent Adam Blackmore said: "It's great to continue our commitment as the exclusive providers for all games."

Bournemouth games are broadcast on 103.8FM, 1359AM and Dorset DAB.

Cherries chief executive Alistair Saverimutto said: "Our partnership with BBC Radio Solent is one we value at the club, and have done for a long time.

"As the exclusive commentary rights holders with the club, they provide Cherries fans with a great service and they give the club a positive profile right across Dorset and Hampshire, which is something we value as we go forward looking to build on our brand."

The station's resident Bournemouth commentary team are Johnny Cantor and former Cherries player and coach John Williams, and Blackmore added: "John Williams has his fans and his critics, but he cares about the club more than most, and his relationship with Johnny Cantor on-air is growing by the week.

"The relationship we have with the new administration is as strong as it was with previous incumbents, and I look forward to that continuing for some time to come."
