Bournemouth have appointed Jimmy Quinn and Jason Tindall as the new management team at Dean Court following Monday's sacking of Kevin Bond.

Former Cherries player Quinn steered Cambridge United to the Blue Square Premier play-off final last season.

Quinn told BBC Radio Solent: "It's an absolute pleasure to be back. I was only here a season, but I had a great time and a great rapport with the fans.

"I've seen the players and am confident that I can keep them in the division."

The former Northern Ireland international played for Bournemouth in the 1991/92 season. "I was leading goalscorer if anybody can remember that far back," he said.

"I've known Savvy [chief executive Alistair Saverimutto] a long time before he got to the club. I had a call from him on Monday to come down and have a chat.

"I was offered the job and I'm absolutely delighted to be here.

"It's a tough job, but I feel you only have to look about you at the stadium and the facilities."

Quinn left his job at Cambridge United by mutual consent in June.

New assistant boss Tindall, who helped Quinn with coaching at Cambridge, was at Bournemouth for eight years as a player before a short spell as player-manager at Weymouth.

Bournemouth are without a win in four League Two matches this season and remain eight points from safety after starting the campaign with a 17-point deficit for a breach of League rules.
