Boston bid for McCarthy
Boston United boss Neil Thompson has made a bid to sign Manchester City defender Paddy McCarthy on a permanent basis.

McCarthy reached the end of his three-month loan spell from Maine Road in Saturday's win over Kidderminster Harriers.

The 19-year-old has finished on the losing side only four times in his 11 appearances for the Pilgrims and Thompson sees him as a key figure in Boston's survival bid.

"I want him here and a deal has been put to them so we will just have to wait and see how things develop this week.

"Stuart Balmer signed last Friday and I hope to be able to get Paddy back in time for the trip to Oxford to keep the defence solid," Thompson told the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper.

Boston have kept five clean sheets in their last six games and after three straight wins have moved five points clear of the relegation zone.
