Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has pledged his future to the club by signing a new contract which runs until the summer of 2014.

The 23-year-old has forced his way into the side this season, making his competitive debut in the Carling Cup win against Southampton in August.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle is thrilled to be keeping Bogdan at the club and described the deal as "great news".

"We're delighted that Adam's committed himself to a new contract," Coyle said.

"Since I came to the football club he's been outstanding and to have a young goalkeeper of that ilk commit himself is great news for everybody."

Despite being used predominantly as back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, Bogdan has played a key role in the Trotters' run to the FA Cup semi-final.

The Hungarian, signed from Vasas SC in 2007, has kept clean sheets in the ties with York City, Wigan and Fulham.

He joins team-mates Mark Davies, Fabrice Muamba and Lee Chung-yong in signing a new contract at the Reebok Stadium this season.

Coyle added: "It shows that we are investing in young players and trying to build the football club with that nucleus of young players."

The Scot also believes that working alongside veteran keeper Jaaskelainen can only aid Bogdan's development.

"Jussi has probably been one of the top performers in the Premier League for the last 10 years and for Adam to work with someone of that quality, it can only help him," Coyle commented.

"And Jussi knows he's now got real competition."
