Striker Ivan Klasnic rejoins Bolton on two-year deal

Bolton have signed Ivan Klasnic on a two-year deal after the Croatia striker's contract with French club Nantes was not renewed.

Klasnic, 30, spent last season on loan at Bolton, impressing boss Owen Coyle in the last five months of the season he was in charge at the Reebok Stadium.

Coyle's limited budget meant he felt there was only an outside chance of recruiting the 6ft 1in forward.

But the decision by Nantes to release him crucially made him a free agent.

The permanent signing of Klasnic follows that of Marcos Alonso last week and the arrivals of Martin Petrov and Robbie Blake earlier in the summer.

Klasnic told the club's website: "I'm really pleased to be here now that everything is done.

"I spoke to the manager - he wants to work with me and I want to work with him. It was an easy decision to come back to Bolton."

Klasnic, who was brought to Wanderers by previous boss Gary Megson, started 12 Premier League matches and scored eight times for Bolton last season.

The Hamburg-born player began his career with German side St Pauli before going on to spend seven years at Werder Bremen and then joining Nantes two years ago.

He has won 38 caps for Croatia and scored 12 international goals.
