Bolton have completed a season-long loan move for Lens' Senegal defender Abdoulaye Faye after he was granted a work permit to move to The Reebok.

The powerful 27-year-old had already agreed the move, but was still awaiting Home Office clearance.

Faye, who impressed Bolton boss Sam Allardyce while training with the club in Thailand and Japan, spent last season on loan to Istres.

A delighted Allardyce said: "He will be a great addition to our squad."

He added: "He's a versatile player with proven experience in France and possesses the right character to play in what is the toughest league in the world."

He joins his Senegal international team-mates Khalilou Fadiga and El Hadji Diouf at Bolton.

Faye arrived at Lens in 2002 and played 35 games for the club in his first season.

But he moved to Istres last season, playing 28 games in their relegation campaign.
