Wales call-up pleases Blackpool's David Vaughan

Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan says he is delighted with being recalled to the Wales squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Sweden in Cardiff.

Vaughan missed the 3-0 victory over Scotland in November with injury.

"Playing for your country is a big honour so it's good to be involved," Vaughan told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'm pleased to be back in the squad so hopefully I can carry on where I left off in the last couple of games I played before that."

The 27-year-old, who joined Blackpool from Real Sociedad in August 2008, made his international debut against the United States in May 2003.

Vaughan feels Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has helped to develop his style of play and this latest call-up is just rewards for the effort.

"The way we play the system suits me," he said.

"The manager's brought a few new ideas which have improved the team and everyone's enjoying playing for him.

"No-one expected us to do as well as we have this season. I think we've proved a number of critics wrong so hopefully we can keep it going.

"Everyone's looking forward to the games and we know we've got a chance of winning every game so at least we're not having to worry about relegation."
