Holloway unfazed by Adam interest

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has responded to reported interest from Bolton for midfielder Charlie Adam.

The Seasiders boss admitted he does not want to sell one of his best players, but is aware he cannot stop other clubs from watching him.

"I'd be disappointed if they weren't watching Charlie," Holloway told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'm not lining anyone up to replace Charlie - I'm lining everyone up to replace everybody."

He added: "We run a business and sometimes it means you have to sell your best asset and move forward."

He's only 23 and what I did promise him is that we'll get to the Premier League

The Scotland international, 23, completed his £500,000 move from Rangers in August, having enjoyed a successful loan-spell the previous season.

But after scoring six goals in 18 appearances during this campaign, he is likely to become a major target during the January transfer window.

"What do we want? Do we want him to not play so well so nobody likes him?

"We only bought him this summer and he's been outstanding. I thought Rangers were wrong [to sell him] and the better he does the more people come in for him.

"I've never, ever want to sell any of my players but sometimes the financial climate deems you have to.

"And if you've got two or three others lined up ready to come in then you might get a better squad rather than an outstanding individual.

"What I did promise him [Adam], I said that 'we're going to get into the Premier League and hopefully you'll still be with us. If not I know you'll get there'."
