Blackpool extend Seip loan deal

Blackpool have extended the loan of defender Marcel Seip from Plymouth Argyle until the end of the year.

The 27-year-old joined the Seasiders in September, although his parent club can recall him with 24-hours notice.

"I asked [Plymouth] can we have him for the maximum period on loan?," manager Ian Holloway told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I want to prove to my board he might be worth buying, although he's on quite a lot of money so we might not be able to afford all of it."

The Winschoten-born player started his career with BV Veendam in 1999.

After a two-year spell with the Eerste Divisie club he moved to Heerenveen, where he made nearly 100 appearances before attracting interest from Plymouth.

The Championship club signed him on a free transfer in August 2006.

But a breach of club indiscipline before a game against Charlton in 2008 led to Seip being placed on the transfer list.

He was later removed from the list by manager Paul Sturrock, although a further indiscretion in September again led to the Dutch defender being offered to other clubs.

"He's one of the players I bought when I was with Plymouth so I don't want to get caught in transfer talk," said Holloway.

"He's better off playing for me and putting himself in the shop window."
