Holloway casts eye over Langley

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has revealed Richard Langley could be offered a contract if he impresses during a training spell with the club.

Holloway said the out-of-contract midfielder is not on trial with the Seasiders but admitted he is keeping his options open for the 29-year-old.

"We've had a friendship and working relationship which has lasted years," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"If he looks anything like he used to then it might work out for both of us."

Langley began his career with Queens Park Rangers where he made around 150 appearances during a seven-year spell.

The London-born player moved to Cardiff in 2003 before returning to Loftus Road two years later.

Following a free-transfer to Luton in 2006, the Jamaica international missed all but one game of the 2007-08 campaign after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments in a pre-season friendly.

"I will not leave a companion of mine who worked so hard for me in the past out on a limb," said Holloway.

"I'm using my position at Blackpool to help a friend of mine to see if I can get him fit enough for someone to give a job to.

"If I hold some trials because I've got a boatload of people telling me they're good enough they're not going to get on my training ground," he added. "They haven't earned the right to be there.

"But there's some very high-calibre people out there who can't get jobs at the moment, so I'm still going to take my time to choose."
